"Huwag maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan."

I have a lakbayan map which I regularly update...it's much like my checklist of places in the Philippines that I've been to and places that I still want to go to.

My friends and I have made a pact years ago...that each year we will visit at least one place in the Philippines that we haven't been to. This started sometime year 2001 when I had the chance of travelling outside the country. Funny that it was through that trip that i realized how beautiful our country was and that it has so much to offer to the world!

Sure, just like most people, I still dream of travelling across famous travel spots in other countries...but then am much more interested in exploring the wonder that is the Philippines. I get to understand our culture through the places and the people around 'Pinas.

It's the experience of riding a motorbike across ricefields...snorkeling to view the wonderful marine life...eating sumptuous meals cooked by the locals...and even just watching the sun set while lounging by the beach. There's nothing that compares to appreciating the beauty of the Philippines...i think every Pinoy must try and travel the country at least once in awhile.
